Marvin Gaye...Time Traveler???

This pic is so dope. How did Marvin Gaye dress like Peter Wentz. They probably clowned him back in the day for this outfit.

60 Seconds with F1 Diamond

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, F1 Diamond moved to Memphis 7 years ago. Noticing the effects of negative hip-hop vs. positive hip-hop, he began to see young people's lives being altered by the things they heard from some of today's most popular artists. Feeling completely compelled and empowered to "do something about it," F1 Diamond made the decision to pursue the minds of the young through the medium of music. Called "The Pastor of the Traphouse", his job is to lead people away from the hood.

After visiting F1's site and MySpace. My verdict is that dude is dope. Shout out to all his fellow members of Kappa Alpha Psi. This cat truly is a diamond!

G-Style - "Gangsta"

Eff it! I'm goin in!!!

This video is from, G-Style, a group instrumental in pioneering the gangsta walk we are all familiar with today. If any of you buckers out there aren't familiar, it's time you pay homage. You can't go anywhere if you don't know where you come from.

Gangsta Pat - Gangsta Boogie

Watching this video, you may ask, "Bizzle, why would you post some early 90's West Coast rap video on a blog dedicated to all things Memphis." However, as much as you may be to believe that this isn't a DJ Quik video. It isn't. This is Gangsta Pat, Memphis native. I keep posting these old videos to give you all a flashback into the culture of Memphis that has been covered and forgotten. You all know we have a rich history in music genres such as soul, rock, blues, gospel, and country. A lot of the success of the local hip hop artists that were popular before, and shortly after I was born (when I was way too young to remember) was on a pretty major scale. I had been planning to space out some of these old school video posts so that people in the future that visit the blog won't have to dig so far into the archives to find them, but...I gotta share some of these old gems.

We'll see...

Three 6 Mafia-Late Nite Tip

This joint is a Memphis classic. One of the early songs that put Three Six and the city on the map as one of the contenders in the South. Not to mention, it had a dope sample.

Milan Fashion Week Update: Versace

Versace, a brand known for hot-ness and pure luxury does it again with complete crocodile jackets, python bags, and perfectly pair silk and cotton peices. Designer Donatella Versace has been keeping, her late brother and founder of Versace, Gianni Versace's visions of sexy-ness without vulgarity and luxe with no boundaries alive. I'm sure Gianni is smiling in a silk suit and gator loafers in heaven. The collection was perfection. Croc print tees? Idk. I guess someone can pull it off? And omg, deep breathes...Summer whites!!! The creamy orange, metallic blue, and smoky gray colors were so very awesome. I'm not really a jewelry guy but some of those were hot. Pull up your summer wishlist and check out this show. There was something for absolutely everyone in this collection. Btw Memphis pimps are gonna rack up on this shit.

Milan Fashion Week Update: Neil Barrett

Leather is such a wonderful thing. Whether it's pants, a jacket, a bag, boots. And now a t-shirt. Designer Neil Barrett used some of the finest most luxurious leathers in almost every possible way. By bonding them together and to luxe jersey knits to create seamless peices , putting leather knee pads on pants, even pairing leather trenches with some suprising hot dhoti-esque pants. The sandal were a please don't, but everything else was hot. The kinda paisley khaki and speckled grey prints were good. And I obviously can't say enough about summer whites. Buy! Milan Fashion Week Update: Gucci

Gucci. Do I honestly need to say more? We all know what to expect from Gucci by now. Something so HOT, something so clean, and something so modern. Not suprised but excited that I thought right. Designer Frida Giannini creates yet another 100% perfect collection. Frida's Spring 2010 menswear collection was the epitamy of luxury. Every look was very lavish vacation in Rome or island in Greece ready. And the summer whites appear yet again in another collection. (Go invest now please!!!) Even the gleaming jacquard suit were right. Nylon parkas were so perfect. Spring or fall. But if you aint got the cash flow for a Gucci one, definitely hit up American Apparel(http://store.americanapparel.net/) or UrbanOutfitters(http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/index.jsp) . This collection was Gucci.( I still don't get why people say that). To see more looks from the show, which you need to, go to: http://men.style.com/fashion/collections/S2010MEN/review/GUCCIMEN

Milan Fashion Week Update: Gianfranco Ferre

Gianfranco Ferre is a brand founded in the late 70's, known for its clean lines, and visible seams. Though the original designer(Gianfranco Ferre) died in 2007, the new designers of the brand, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, have been keeping the company's legacy in mind since taking over last April. Their Spring 2010 menswear collection was the hottest way to do structure. The shoulders were so very clean and sculpted. The pants tailored perfectly( skinny pants or so needed). Every peice of this collection was strong. And I'm definitely feelin' the washed out navy peacoat. I bought one exactly like that last year at Benetton(http://www.benetton.com/portal/web/guest/home). And now, at economic times likes these, I'll be reaching in the back of my closet and rockin' it a couple more times.
